KUALA LUMPUR: After an absence of six months, Goh Liu Ying has made a triumphant return to the international badminton scene.
She won the mixed doubles title with youngster Cheng Tan Jie in the India International Series yesterday.
Liu Ying, who has just recovered from a shoulder injury following an operation in Germany, teamed up with Tan Jie to beat India’s Rohan Kapoor-Kuhoo Garg 21-19, 21-13 in Hyderabad.
“Tang Jie was a bit nervous, maybe because it was his first time to be paired with me in an international competition,” she said.
Liu Ying, a 2016 Rio Olympics silver medallist with Chan Peng Soon, said her partner is still shaky on court.
“After this, I hope we can continue our momentum at the India International Challenge (Nov 29-Dec 3).”
