Soon Huat-Shevon crash out of Indonesia Masters

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's interest in the Indonesia Masters came to an end on Saturday when Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie crashed out in the mixed doubles semi-finals.

The Malaysians, who could have become the new national No 1 had they reached the final, went down 21-18, 21-14 to sixth seeds Zhang Siwei-Huang Yaqiong of China in 30 minutes at the Istora Senayan Indoor Stadium in Jakarta.

Soon Huat-Shevon, however, should be proud of their run as it was their second semi-final appearance after the recent Malaysia Masters.

Shevon said: “I am disappointed because we did not play well today, both technically and tactically.”

"We were not composed as our eagerness to win affected our play,” said Shevon.

Siwei-Yaqiong play top seeds Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir of Indonesia in the final on Sunday.

Soon Huat-Shevon will travel to New Delhi for the India Open next week where the World No 13 will open against Denmark's Anders Skaarup Rasmussen-Line Kjaersfeldt.
