KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has congratulated Datuk Lee Chong Wei for contributing a gold medal to Malaysia’s 2018 Commonwealth Games (CG18) medal tally.
It is the third gold medal for Chong Wei at the Commonwealth Games’ men’s badminton single, after winning it in 2006 and 2010.
“Great Datuk @LeeChongWei, amazing win! Each swing of the racket has brought along the spirit of 30 million Malaysians! Congratulations to Malaysia’s sixth gold at #GC2018,” Najib wrote on his Twitter page.
In the match at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre, Gold Coast, Chong Wei beat world number one player, K. Srikanth from India 19-21, 21-14, 21-14. – BERNAMA
