KUALA LUMPUR: Shuttler Lee Zii Jia is now ranked 10th in the world following his impressive performance at the recent All England.
The 22-year-old moved three rungs to 10th on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) ranking list after reaching the semi-finals in Birmingham.
It is a timely breakthrough for Zii Jia as he has been lying in the top-20 ranking for nearly 10 months.
His previous best position was No 11 last November.
Zii Jia is also the third Malaysian men’s singles shuttler to crack the top 10 since Lee Chong Wei and Liew Daren in the past decade.
“It is a breakthrough achievement to break into the top 10 for the first time in my career.
“I hope to continue my impressive form when the tour restarts,” said Zii Jia today.
The BWF have suspended all tournaments until April 12 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
