KUALA LUMPUR: World No 7 Lee Zii Jia has taken the first step forward by forming his own badminton club.
The All-England champion, who left the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) last month, has formed the Lee Zii Jia Badminton Club as he looks to progress as a professional shuttler.
There were much speculations over who would be part of Zii Jia's team.
And it was revealed by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker that Indonesian coach Indra Wijaya will link up with Zii Jia.
Indra's contract as the national women's singles coach under BAM, expires on March 31.
It was indicated that BAM are willing to release Indra to aid with Zii Jia's preparation for the All-England on March 16-20.
"Thank you to the Sports Commissioner for approving the formation of the Lee Zii Jia Badminton Club," wrote Lian Ker on Facebook.
"This would help Zii Jia appoint coach Indra Wijaya, whose contract expires on March 31.
"BAM are also ready to hand over the Indonesian coach to promptly help Zii Jia with his professional career development."
