KUALA LUMPUR: Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah kept the Malaysian flag flying, but it was the end of the road for world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik at the Indonesia Masters today.
Pearly-Thinaah, who are seeded sixth in Jakarta, secured a straight forward 21-10, 21-12 win over China's Li Wen Mei-Liu Xuan Xuan 21-10, 21-12 (38 minutes) in their women's doubles quarter-final clash at Istora Senayan.
The world No. 6 duo are now the only Malaysians left in the competition.
Pearly-Thinaah, who also reached the India Open semi-finals last week, will tomorrow face Japan's Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota for a spot in the final. The latter had beaten India's Tanisha Crasto-Ashwini Ponnappa 21-13, 21-18 in the last-eight.
Aaron-Wooi Yik went down to unseeded China duo He Ji Ting-Zhou Hao Dong 21-17, 21-10 in their men's doubles quarter-final. The match lasted 38 minutes.
It is a disappointing result for Aaron-Wooi Yik after doing well to reach the India Open final last week.
Shevon Lai-Goh Soon Huat also lost 21-16, 21-19 (43 minutes) to higher ranked French pair Delphine Delrue-Thom Gicquel in their mixed doubles quarter-final.
Delrue-Gicquel are world No. 5, two spots higher than Shevon-Soon Huat.
