KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik crashed out of the Arctic Open, while women's doubles Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah progressed to the quarter-finals in Vantaa, Finland.
World No. 4 Aaron-Wooi Yik, returning to action after their Paris Olympics appearance in August, were defeated 21-13, 21-8 by England's Ben Lane- Sean Vendy in a late second-round match on Wednesday.
However, world No. 7 Pearly-Thinaah had no trouble securing their quarter-final spot, breezing past Dutch and Ukrainian pair Kirsten de Witt and Mariia Stoliarenko 21-10, 21-11.
Also booking a place in today's quarter-finals were independent mixed doubles Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai, who overcame Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran 22-20, 21-16.
