TAIPEI CITY: Mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei kept their side of the bargain, and consequently, Malaysia will be challenging for two titles in the Taiwan Open finals tomorrow.
Following Tang Jie-Ee Wei's
21-14, 21-19 win over homesters Ye Hong Wei-Lee Chia Hsin in the last four today, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun beat Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi in an all-Malaysian affair.
World No 19 Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who clinched the Orleans Masters crown in April, have reached their third final this year.
They will play another Taiwanese combination, Chiu Hsiang Chieh-Lin Xiao Min in the final.
"We try not too think too much. Every time we play, our goal remains the same, and that is to achieve the best result.
"Ee Wei and I don't want to get carried away. We are learning all the time, and we don't want to get too complacent.
"There is always room for improvement," said Tang Jie, who won the Iran International Challenge with Ee Wei in February.
Since they were paired up seven months ago, Tang Jie-Ee Wei have shown great promise. And their impressive showing earned them a place recently in the Road to Gold (RTG) programme.
Asked if this was a shot in the arm ahead of several tournaments this year, Tang Jie replied: "Surely, making the cut for the RTG programme is a huge motivation for Ee Wei and I.
"However, like I mentioned earlier, we want to stay grounded and focus only on our performance."
With just one match away from winning their second World Tour title, Ee Wei echoed her teammate's sentiments.
"There really isn't much to be said. We got one more match, and we want to go out there and give our best. Every other thing comes after that," said Ee Wei.
