Pearly-Thinaah stopped by China's World No 1 pair in Tokyo

KUALA LUMPUR: China's World No 1 Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan once again proved too strong for Malaysia's top women's pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah.

Pearly-Thinaah lost 21-15, 21-13 to the Chinese duo today in the second round of the Japan Open, just a week after they were sent packing by the same opponents in the Korea Open.

The latest defeat extended the world No 11 Malaysians' losing streak against Qing Chen-Yi Fan to five matches.

It was also the end of the road for Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani-Goh Sze Fei in the men's doubles.

Yew Sin-Ee Yi went down 15-21, 21-18, 21-16 to Olympic champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi Lin of Taiwan.

US Open champions Izzuddin-Sze Fei were ousted 21-14, 21-17 by Liu Yu Chen-Ou Xuan Yi of China.
