KUALA LUMPUR: Shuttlers Lee Zii Jia and Ng Tze Yong showed no sign of fatigue as they got off to a winning start at the Arctic Open in Vaanta, Finland, today.
World No. 16 Zii Jia beat Danish qualifier Mads Christophersen 21-15, 21-16 while world No. 19 Tze Yong tamed Thailand's Kantaphon Wangcharoen with an identical score at the Energie Arena.
Zii Jia will most probably meet Indonesia's Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo next while Tze Yong will face either Taiwan's Chou Tien Chen or China's Zhao Jun Peng.
The duo travelled to Europe right after having completed their Asian Games assignment in Hangzhou last week where they made it to quarter-finals of the individal event.
They will be hoping to start their European swing campaign, which comprises the Denmark Open and French Open over the next two weeks, on positive note.
The Denmark Open will be especially important for Zii Jia as he needs to defend his ranking points as last year's runner-up.
In men's doubles, Kaoshiung Masters winners Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani picked up where they left off to beat Lucas Corvee-Ronan Labar of France 21-18, 21-8.
They are expected to face fourth seeds Anders Skaarup Rasmussen-Kim Astrup of Denmark next.
