KUALA LUMPUR: Men's pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik have advanced to the semi-finals of the Badminton Asia Championships in Ningbo, China after defeating Chinese duo Liu Yu Chen-Ou Xuan Yi.
Aaron-Wooi Yik, the fourth seeds, were in top form as they overcame their seventh-seeded opponents 21-14, 21-15 in just 30 minutes on Friday.
They are now just one step away from matching their best performance of finishing runners-up in the Manila edition in 2022.
What's even more encouraging is that they have now established dominance over Yu Chen-Xuan Yi, winning their second successive and four of their recent five encounters.
Aaron-Wooi Yik had previously found Yu Chen and Xuan Yi difficult opponents, losing all their first three clashes against them.
Malaysian fans will be hoping for a double success as Nur Izzuddin Rumsani-Goh Sze Fei are set to face Olympic champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi Lin of Taiwan in the other quarter-final clash later today.
A victory for Izzuddin-Sze Fei would set up an all-Malaysian encounter with Aaron-Wooi Yik in the semi-finals on Saturday, ensuring Malaysia's representation in the final of the men's doubles event.
