KUALA LUMPUR: Men's pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik continued their fine record against Olympic champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi Lin by chalking up their third straight win over the Taiwanese at the Singapore Open on Thursday.

The Malaysian duo dug deep into their reserves before winning the pulsating contest 21-18, 21-23, 21-17 in 67 minutes.

The win will see the world No. 5 going up against rivals Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark for a place in the semi-finals on Friday.

World No. 4 Astrup-Rasmussen, last week's Malaysia Masters winners, stayed on course for back-to-back victories after prevailing 21-10, 20-22, 21-19 against Malaysia's Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun in the last 16.

It will be Aaron-Wooi Yik's 11th duel with Rasmussen-Astrup, and the recent head-to-head record suggests that the Malaysians have the edge.

Aaron-Wooi Yik have not lost in any of their last three encounters against the Danes in the past 12 months.

The 2022 world champions will be aiming to reach their fourth semi-final of the season after having done so at the India Open, All England, and Asia Championships.

Of the three, their best outing this year was finishing second at the All England.

In the mixed doubles, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing were shown the exit by Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek of the Netherlands.

The world No. 23 lost 21-18, 18-21, 21-10 in their fourth defeat in as many meetings against the world No. 15.
