KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun scored one of their biggest career wins to reach the Indonesia Open second round on Tuesday.
The world No. 20 men's doubles pair clawed back from a game down in sensational fashion to upset reigning world champions Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae of South Korea 20-22, 21-16, 21-17 at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun will play Denmark's Rasmus Kjaer-Frederik Sogaard or China's Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi next.
Meanwhile, it was the end of the road for another national pair, Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri, who went down fighting 18-21, 21-16, 21-17 to Tokyo Olympic champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi Lin of Taiwan.
In the women's singles, Goh Jin Wei was shown the exit by China's sixth seed Wang Zhi Yi, who notched a 21-15, 21-17 win.
Zhi Yi, who clinched the Malaysia Masters title a fortnight ago, will face Indonesia's Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo in the second round.
