KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles shuttler Lai Pei Jing, who recently fell victim to an investment syndicate, will focus on badminton first, at least until next week's Australian Open.
Only after that will she look into her personal matters.
On Saturday, Pei Jing and her partner Tan Kian Meng saw their fairytale run at the Super 1000 Indonesia Open come to an end in the semi-finals after a 21-16, 21-18 defeat to China's Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.
It was Kian Meng-Pei Jing's best run in a tournament since they reached the China Open semi-finals last September.
Speaking to the Badminton World Federation (BWF), Pei Jing, who allegedly lost all her hard-earned savings last week, said: "There have been a lot of positives and maybe some not good as well. Today, we lost because of consistency.
"It's been some week, but right now, I want to focus 100 per cent on the next tournament, and only after that I will think of my personal stuff."
Meanwhile, Kian Meng said things are slowly working out for the former national pair, who moved up two rungs to No. 21 this week.
As such, Kian Meng-Pei Jing will stick to their current training programme and not make any drastic changes.
"As you can see, our performance has been getting better. It means we don't need to change much. Perhaps, we just need to push a little more during training," he added.
Kian Meng-Pei Jing will head to Sydney next, where they will face homesters Ephraim Stephen Sam-Dania Nugroho in the opening round of the Australian Open.
Meanwhile, for the Indonesia Open title, Zhen Bang-Ya Xin will take on world No. 1 Zheng Si Wei-Huang Ya Qiong in the final on Sunday.
Si Wei-Ya Qiong defeated Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai 21-19, 21-19 in the semi-finals.
