Five-star Malaysian shuttlers rout Macau 5-0 at Asia Juniors

KUALA LUMPUR: Unstoppable Malaysia got off to a brilliant start in the Badminton Asia Junior Mixed Team Championships by thrashing Macau 5-0 in their opening Group B match in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, on Friday.

World No. 1 boys' doubles pair Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing started the ball rolling by defeating Chio Chi Seng-Ou Ka Hou 21-10, 21-12 in 17 minutes at the Among Rogo Sports Hall.

World No. 6 girls' singles player Siti Zulaikha Azmi extended Malaysia's lead with a 21-14, 21-10 win over Chan Hao Wai 21-14, 21-10.

Faiq Masawi gave Malaysia an unassailable 3-0 lead by overcoming Tong Chon In 21-14, 21-11 in the boys' singles match.

Ong Xin Yee-Carmen Ting continued Malaysia's winning momentum by thrashing Leong Sam Kio-Ung Cheok Ian 21-6, 21-8.

Aaron returned to the court, partnering Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan in the mixed doubles, to down Chang Chi Chon-Wang Wai Kei 21-11, 21-10 to hand Malaysia a 5-0 win.

Malaysia will face Kazakhstan in their next tie on Saturday.
