KUALA LUMPUR: Independent women's singles shuttler Goh Jin Wei has 'moved on' and come to terms with the fact that she will have to compete in the Paris Olympics without her coach, Nova Armada.
The 24-year-old will, instead, focus on improving her weaknesses ahead of her debut Olympic appearance in the Games, which start on July 26.
"Unfortunately, I'm forced to accept it. For now, I just want to focus on my training.
"Coach Nova will stay in Malaysia and not be with me in Paris. But I will keep in touch with him," she said when met during the Tiga Saga Li Ning Cup "3 versus 3" friendly competition between the media and the Li Ning team here on Friday.
Jin Wei will not be accompanied by her coach to the Paris Olympics due to the limited number of accreditation cards issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
However, the world No. 33 will receive guidance from BA of Malaysia coaching director Rexy Mainaky during the Games.
Asked about Rexy, Jin Wei said she believes that the Indonesian coach will be able to add value to her performance in Paris.
"Rexy is an experienced coach and an Olympic champion, but Nova has been with me for three years, so the best scenario is having him in Paris," she added.
"But I'm grateful that Rexy is willing to assist me, and I will have to adapt to his style," she added.
