KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik fought back from the brink of defeat to secure Malaysia's first Olympic medal at the Paris Games.

On Sunday, world No. 3 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik clinched the men's doubles bronze after overcoming Denmark's world No. 2 Anders Skaarup Rasmussen-Kim Astrup 16-21, 22-20, 21-19.

In the second game, Aaron-Wooi Yik saved four match points at 20-16 before forcing a decider.

This is their second bronze medal, having also finished third at Tokyo 2020.

The medal has lifted the spirits in the badminton camp following the shuttlers' unsuccessful attempts to reach their respective finals.

Malaysia will have a chance to win a second bronze when Lee Zii Jia faces India's Lakshya Sen in the men's singles playoff on Monday (Aug 5).
