KUALA LUMPUR: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, bronze medallists at the Paris Olympics, have withdrawn from next week's Japan Open due to injury.
National coaching director Rexy Mainaky revealed that Wooi Yik has sustained a minor injury and has been advised by the medical team to sit out the tournament.
"He is experiencing minor pain in his feet, which he sustained during the semi-finals at the Olympics," said Rexy on Monday.
The pair, who returned from Paris last week, had planned to take a short break before preparing for the Super 750 Japan Open.
However, with their withdrawal, world No. 3 Aaron-Wooi Yik will need to adjust their plans.
Their participation in the Korea Open, scheduled for two weeks from now, will depend on how quickly Wooi Yik recovers.
