KUALA LUMPUR: The hot topic at badminton's ongoing mixed team World Junior Championships is its unique scoring format.
Teams will play 10 matches where only one game of first to reach 11 points will be played, and the winner of the tie is the first to score 110 points.
Teams have to adjust to this format quickly as this is the first time it has been implemented in a BWF tournament.
However, after playing three matches in this new format, Malaysia's junior shuttlers are slowly getting used to it.
Today, Malaysia routed minnows Estonia 110-61 in their third Group C tie.
"The players played really well today and showed a spirited display against Estonia.
"I can see they are getting used to the new system," said Badminton Association of Malaysia coach Jeffer Rosobin.
Yesterday, Malaysia outplayed Mongolia and Norway 110-48 and 110-51 respectively.
Malaysia will play the Netherlands tomorrow to determine Group C's top-seeded team.
