Rexy hails the return of the man behind Pearly-Thinaah [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Rosman Razak, the man behind the formation of Malaysia's most successful women's doubles, Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah, has got the thumbs up from Rexy Mainaky as he returns to the national coaching set-up.

BAM Coaching Director Rexy said Rosman's vast experience will be invaluable in strengthening the women's doubles department.

Rexy said this following BAM's announcement of Rosman as the new women's doubles head coach today.

"I welcome Rosman's appointment as women's doubles coach. He has vast experience coaching Malaysian players.

"He was there coaching Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui, then Woon Khe Wei-Vivian Hoo.

''He is also the man responsible for pairing up Pearly and Thinaah," Rexy said.

Thinaah started out as a singles player but had limited success. It was then that Rosman took the 26-year-old under his wing as a doubles player and paired her up with Pearly. Currently, they are ranked seventh in the world.

Rexy said Rosman's experience would serve the women's doubles department well as there are several young pairs in the national squad.

"Rosman's experience is invaluable not only as a coach but he is a father figure to the players.

"He can communicate with them not only on how to be the best athlete but also about what characteristics a good player possesses.

"With the recent coaching reshuffle, Rosman can also impart his knowledge to Ching Kai Feng and Amelia Anscelly, and hopefully, we can see them improve as coaches," Rexy added.

Rosman, who has more than two decades of coaching experience, started with the women's doubles at BAM in 2012.

After his contract expired in 2015, he left BAM to coach professional players, but returned to the national set-up in 2016.

In 2020, Rosman left again to coach the Philippines national team before returning to Malaysia to guide independent doubles players in 2022.

Rexy said Rosman is expected to start work at the Academy Badminton Malaysia on Nov 5.
