Shuttler Kian Meng denies match-fixing claims [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: Professional mixed doubles player Tan Kian Meng has strongly denied any involvement in match-fixing, taking to Instagram today (Oct 26) to refute the allegations.

Kian Meng, who partners Lai Pei Jing as the world No. 14 pairing, addressed the issue on social media following accusations linking him to unethical practices.

"I want to clarify that I am 'clean,'" Kian Meng wrote on Instagram.

"I have never been involved in match-fixing activities throughout my badminton career.

If anyone hears rumours about this involving me, please understand that it's not true.

"I play badminton because I love the sport. I play for my family, wife, country, and career. That's who I am. Thank you for your support."

Meanwhile, Pei Jing announced that the duo will withdraw from the Kumamoto Masters on Nov 12-17 due to Kian Meng's injury.

However, she confirmed that they will compete in the China Masters on Nov 19-24.

For the record, Kian Meng-Pei Jing have not advanced beyond the first round in their last five tournaments.
