Sze Fei-Izzuddin fall to Vikings in WTF final

KUALA LUMPUR: Men's doubles Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani failed to end Malaysia's wait for a maiden World Tour Finals (WTF) crown in Hangzhou today.

World No. 7 Sze Fei-Izzuddin were beaten 21-17, 17-21, 21-11 by world No. 3 Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark in a 65-minute final.

The Malaysian independent pair had also lost to the Danes in the group stage and currently trail 8-3 in their head-to-head record.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin had to settle for the runners-up prize of US$100,000 (RM445,000) while Astrup-Ramussen won US$210,000.

Despite the defeat, Sze Fei-Izzuddin can still hold their heads high after having won three World Tour titles — Japan, China and Arctic Opens — apart from inishing runners-up at the Asian Championships.
