JOHOR BARU: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) striker Ahmad Hazwan Bakri is ready if required to play against Thailand's Muangthong United FC in Tuesday's AFC Champions League qualifying second round match in Bangkok.
The winner will face Japan's Kashiwa Reysol on Jan 30 for a spot in the group stage of the tournament.
Hazwan declared that he will do his best in the match if given the responsibility by JDT coach Ulisses Morais.
"The match against Muangthong is expected to be tough," said Hazwan.
"Our recent pre-season in Bangkok was good. We were drilled on tactics an formations.
"I also had a chance to pair up with Argentina strikers Luciano Figueroa and Jorge Pereyra Diaz in friendly matches in Bangkok.
"Figueroa and Diaz are very professional on the pitch and I felt comfortable playing with them."
JDT will head to Thailand on Sunday without the services of naturalised player
La'Vere Corbin Ong, who could not be registered on time for the competition due to a technical issue.
Johor Darul Ta'zim II (JDT II) goalkeeper Samuel Sommerville has been registered as a replacement to second-choice custodian Haziq Nazdli who is in China for the AFC U-23 Championship.
"We are ready and optimistic of our chances in this match," Hazwan added.
