KUCHING: For the love of their beloved football club, the Liverpool Fan Club (LFC) Petra Jaya and LFC Borneo, here were willing to spend big money on advertising space to celebrate the success of their favourite team qualifying for the UEFA Champions League quarter- finals.
The giant LED screen near Heritage Park, Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abdul Rahman Yakub, has attracted the attention of city dwellers, especially the main route users.
LFC Petra Jaya president Rosmaini Jemaan said the purpose of purchasing the space was to honour the fans and supporters of the club in the state, following the success of the English club in the prestigious tournament.
"A total of RM600 was spent on buying the slot, but did we did not mind spending it for Liverpool.
"It is screened from 6pm to 12pm on the giant LED screen, and we are proud to see Liverpool's name appear there," he said when contacted.
From England, only two clubs - Liverpool and Manchester City - will continue into the quarter-finals, while Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur missed out on making the list of the top 16 European clubs.
