Zainal expects new assistant to be finalised this week

MELAKA: Melaka United’s new coach, Zainal Abidin Hassan is confident that the selection of his assistant will be concluded by this week, even though he is currently away on holiday performing the Umrah.

Before this, Zainal is said to have a list of potential candidates to choose from as his assistant, with the focus being on former national and Selangor players, though it has still not been finalised.

To date, he has already handed in the name of his new assistant to Melaka’s management and confirmation on it will be finalised by this week.

For Zainal, he is positive that he will be able to form a good, working relationship with his new assistant in order to further uplift the Hang Tuah squad.

"Even though I am not in Melaka as I am away performing the Umrah, I am in constant contact with the team’s management via WhatsApp with regards to developments surrounding the team.

"This includes the listing of players for the new season that are to be retained and other, top local players who have in principle agreed to join us,” said Zainal.

Zainal said that he will return to Malaysia at the end of this month and Melaka’s first training session is expected to take place in the first week of December.
