KUALA LUMPUR: The Kedah FA (KFA) are disappointed with Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) over the signing of national forward Akhyar Rashid.
KFA president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said the transfer of players from one club to another should be done according to proper procedures.
“We are not greedy (of money).
"Even if it was RM1, we would have been okay with the sum had proper channels and procedures as stated in the FA of Malaysia’s (FAM) statutes been followed.
“Do not assume KFA are poor. We have dignity and we are not protesting (transfer of Akhyar) because of money.
"Backdoor practices is unhealthy for Malaysian football," said Mukhriz via Instagram on Sunday.
On Saturday, JDT confirmed that they have signed Akhyar on a four-year contract with a RM12 million release clause.
However, KFA insists that Akhyar is still their player.
The FA claimed that they have not received the RM210,000 compensation from Akhyar.
JDT have also agreed to pay RM100,000 instead of RM75,000 to Kedah as additional compensation.
