Malaysia Cup: Advantage Melaka, JDT

KUALA LUMPUR: Melaka United and Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) are now the favourites to reach the Malaysia Cup final.

At the KLFA Stadium in Cheras on Monday, Melaka frustrated KL City as they held the City Boys to a 1-1 draw in the semi-final first leg.

Terengganu, meanwhile, failed to rattle Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) as the match also ended in a 1-1 draw at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak in the other semi-final.

In a match played behind closed doors, Melaka scored first through Adriano Aparecido when his free kick beat KL goalkeeper Kevin Mendoza in the seventh minute.

Zhafri Yahya equalised for KL in the 26th minute.

Melaka will entertain KL at the Hang Jebat Stadium for the return leg on Friday.

Terengganu scored first against JDT through Lee Tuck, who headed home Jordan Mintah's cross in the eighth minute.

However, Brazilian Bergson da Silva levelled with a solo effort in the 51st minute.

JDT will host Terengganu at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri, also on Friday.
