HAVING registered just a "small" squad of players after the first transfer window ended last Tuesday, Perak and
UiTM FC will compete in this year's Premier League.
Both teams were relegated from the Super League last year after finishing at the bottom of the table amid problems with paying players' salaries and management issues.
For the 2022 season, the Bos Gaurus have appointed coach Yusri Che Lah and intend to sign former Selangor player Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor and ex-KL City player Indra Putra Mahayuddin.
But to get their Fifa transfer ban lifted, Perak will have to settle RM1.7 million in salary debts before they can register Wan Zack and Indra in the May 28-June 24 transfer window.
Perak's new management, Impact Media and Communications (IMC), have vowed to put the Silver State back on better footing as they registered just 20 players for the first half of the season.
"Ideally, we would like to have a more competitive roster.
"However, our line-up should not be taken lightly as we are serious in our approach," said Perak FC chief executive officer Yunus Zakaria.
"There is a plan in place to have our full roster registered during the second transfer window in May.
"We are committed to resolving all pending issues and salary arrears as that is paramount to ensuring that all our players are able to play for Perak without worries.
"The first step is to make sure our 'house' is in order before we can charge forward."
Perak and UiTM will compete with eight others in the Premier League, including JDT II, FAM-NSC Project Squad, Kelantan, Kelantan United, Kuching City, Police, Selangor FC II and Terengganu FC II.
