KUALA LUMPUR: Perak FC has hired former international Lim Teong Kim as head coach of their Premier League team.
Perak said in a statement today that they had signed the 59-year-old on a two-year contract with an option for another year.
Perak chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi said hiring Teong Kim was part of the club's restructuring following three losses in the Premier League.
Perak's current coach, Yusri Che Lah, will be tasked with developing their Under-23 team next season.
"Perak is undergoing a transitional period and we have solved all the issues. There are no more excuses for next season as we have enough time and a competent coach in the set-up," said Azim.
Teong Kim served as Bayern Munich's youth team coach for 12 years before returning to Malaysia in 2013 to become the project director of the National Football Development Programme. He was later appointed as the director of the Mokhtar Dahari Academy in 2016.
Teong Kim also served as the national Under-16 team coach in 2018, but was sacked by FAM after Malaysia failed to qualify for the 2019 Under-17 World Cup in Peru.
