KUALA LUMPUR: National football team skipper Dion Cools prefers to hear wedding bells soon instead of the referee's whistle.
As such, he will miss the international friendlies against Solomon Island (June 14) and Papua New Guinea (June 20) at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium.
The FA of Malaysia and its coaching staff congratulated Dion and his wife on their marriage.
"Team captain Cools will not join the (training) camp this time due to his wedding, and the FAM and the coaching staff wish him and his wife a happy married life," said FAM in a statement.
National coach Kim Pan Gon will use the two friendlies to prepare his team for the Asian Cup in Qatar from Jan 12-Feb 10, 2024.
