KUALA LUMPUR: Football legend Khalid Ali, who is suffering from lung cancer, has received fianancial aid from the National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb).
Yakeb president Datuk Noorul Ariffin Abdul Majeed and its board members and Deputy Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim visited Khalid at his home in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
They gave Khalid a RM17,000 cheque to help in his medical treatment.
Khalid, 66, is best known for helping Malaysia qualify for the 1980 Moscow Olympics.
Khalid said: "I'm grateful that everyone took the time to be here (at his house) to see how I'm doing.
"I would like to thank Adam and Yakeb for coming. With this financial assistance, I hope it will ease my cancer treatment costs."
