KUALA LUMPUR: Former KLFA president Khalid Samad claimed there is a traitor among them on the eve of their congress cum election.
The KLFA election, at a hotel tomorrow, will see interim president Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid and KLFA vice president Syed Yazid Syed Omar contesting the presidency. There will also be an election for a new executive committee.
Both the men have pledged to tackle KL City's financial problems, which have led to unpaid salaries to players.
Khalid questioned the motives of a faction within the KLFA which has vowed to unveil alleged mismanagement, if elected.
"I find it curious that this group claims they will expose wrongdoings only if they win. If they truly have information, why not reveal it now? The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has stated there are no grounds for any case. This feels like a cheap political tactic, attempting to stir sensationalism for votes," said Khalid.
Khalid touched on the positive Super League performance of KL City, and said: "Despite this division, the team are still performing well. Imagine how much better they could do without this internal strife."
The race for the KLFA leadership sees Syed Yazid securing 15 out of 27 nominations, while Abdullah Sani follows with 12.
