BANGKOK: Malaysia have nothing left to lose, except their pride against Laos in football's Under-17 Asia Cup at the Thammasat Stadium in Bangkok tomorrow.
The Young Tigers have already started packing their bags after getting thrashed 4-0 by Yemen and 3-0 by Thailand in their group matches.
Initially, the team went to Bangkok with the ambitious target of finishing in the top four overall and qualify for the Under-17 World Cup.
Having conceded seven goals and scored none in two matches, the Malaysians will hope to at least score against Laos today.
But can they? Both Malaysia and Laos are winless in Group A after two matches.
However lowly Laos are still above rock bottom Malaysia in the group on goal difference.
Unlike Malaysia, the Laotians have at least scored two goals and conceded only four goals.
Coach Osmera Omaro conceded that Malaysia's campaign is over, but hopes that his team will use the match against Laos to improve themselves.
"I see this match as an opportunity to gain experience. (After two matches) we still need to improve and work harder," said Osmera.
Malaysia have qualified for the Under-17 Asia Cup after finishing tops in the qualifiers last year ahead of hosts Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Palestine and Guam.
But in Bangkok, the Malaysian team were inexplicably so far behind Yemen and Thailand.
