KL City hope to return to winning ways

KUALA LUMPUR: KL City hope to return to winning ways when they face Penang in the Malaysia Cup last 16, return leg in Cheras on Friday.

The City Boys' last win came in the 4-0 thrashing of Penang in the first leg in Georgetown on Aug 3.

It has been downhill since the win. They lost to Selangor (2-0) and Sabah (3-2) in the Super League.

KL City defender Giancarlo Gallifuoco said the recent Super League results do not reflect their true performance.

"It is a transition period for KL City under new coach, Nenad Bacina. I think our recent performances were good despite the results.," he said.

On the match against Penang, Gallifuoco said: "Although we have a comfortable lead, we should not be overconfident.

"Penang had Hadin Azman in the middle of the part and Brazilian Andriano Narcizo in attack. They are dangerous players.

"Furthermore, Penang has a new striker in Abdul Abdeen Temitope. We have to focus on our performance tomorrow."

"Anything can happen in football. We hope to secure our place in the next round."
