KUALA LUMPUR: Despite several setbacks, KL City still harbour hopes of finishing in the top three of the Super League.
In August, the club were penalised with a six-point deduction and fined RM100,000 for inaccuracies in their applications for national and AFC licenses.
KL City, currently eighth with 11 points from 11 matches, will face Kelantan Darul Naim (KDN) at the KLFA Stadium in Cheras tomorrow.
The City Boys could have been third in the standings if not for the six-point deduction.
Defender Giancarlo Gallifuoco said his team are determined to beat KDN and collect another three points.
"A win over KDN will set us in the right direction to improve our standing in the league," said Gallifuoco today.
"KL City are enjoying good form, but matches against KDN have always been tough for us."
However, Gallifuoco is recovering from a minor tear to his abductor and will not play tomorrow.
KDN are 12th in the 13-team standings with six points.
On another note, Gallifuoco expressed optimism following recent appointments within the Kuala Lumpur FA (KLFA) executive committee.
"It's been a challenging seven months. However, the players continue to show excellent work ethics despite the difficulties.
"Yes, there are debts to be addressed, but with new leadership and a fresh president, we're feeling optimistic about what lies ahead.
"This change gives us confidence in what's coming on the horizon," added Gallifuoco.
