Kedah confirm cash flow issues, salaries paid only up to July

KUALA LUMPUR: The Kedah football team confirmed their cash flow issues during a press conference held in Alor Star today, revealing that they had only paid player salaries up to July.

However, majority shareholder and patron Tan Sri Dr Daud Bakar assured that plans are in motion to settle the arrears for August before November 7.

He also hopes to clear September's salaries in November as well, outlining a strategy that involves securing new funds from sponsors.

"We will continue to fulfil our responsibilities, but we are also exploring the possibility of new investors coming on board.

"While there has been interest from potential investors, their objectives didn't align with the club's mission and vision," said Daud.

He said efforts are underway to ensure that Kedah receive the necessary support to continue fighting in the current season and to prevent any setbacks next year.

"I am open to new prospects because I don't want Kedah to face hardships. I want to ensure that the club stay afloat and reach its destination successfully."

Daud also urged everyone to refrain from criticising Kedah CEO Khamal Idris Ali and coach Nafuzi Zain.

"This situation is not their fault, nor is it the fault of any other individuals in the structure. They have fulfilled their roles and gone above and beyond for the club."

The team faced another setback as defender Rodney Celvin left the club recently.

"We lost a good player, but we have to live with the fact that we might lose players due to our cash flow problems.

"Nafuzi will have to find available players to fill up the void."

Daud also apologised to his staff and fans and vows to help Kedah see better days soon.

Despite the cash flow issues, Kedah are third in the Super League with 47 points.

It is also reported that several other Super League clubs are facing cash flow issues.
