Kedah players 'on strike' over salary issue?

ALOR STAR: It seemed Kedah's "striking" footballers didn't turn up for training on the third day since team training resumed last Tuesday.

This has sparked adverse reactions and speculations, particularly concerning the issue of outstanding salaries that have plagued the Canaries for several months.

A check at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium's training field yesterday afternoon showed no sign of players attending training.

Only head coach Nafuzi Zain and the team staff were seen at the training centre, and they refused to comment on the situation.

According to sources, the players are frustrated and facing financial difficulties, and this has led to their absence from training.

"If the salary issue could be resolved quickly, the situation would not be this bad, and I am unsure how much longer the club will have to endure this issue."

Meanwhile Kedah Supporters Club chairman, Nor Hasmadi Hamzah, said they are perplexed by the financial problems that have once again plagued the team, after Kedqh were docked points for the same issue last season and also at the start of this season.

"What has happened to Kedah football this season?

"What is happening now is quite shocking for the fans with this salary arrears issue.

"Now, it seems like it's on the verge of collapse. It is time for influential figures in Kedah to step in to save Kedah football.

"As supporters, we love Kedah football dearly. Before it is destroyed, please do something for the honour of this state," he said.
