Hannah Yeoh responds to Oman coach's startling claim [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has cleared the air on the claim by Oman head coach Jaroslav Silhavy that his team were not allowed to train at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil this evening.

Silhavy said so during a pre-match press conference in Kuala Lumpur earlier today.

Malaysia will play Oman in a 2026 World Cup Group D qualifying match tomorrow at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

Silhavy said both the Oman and Malaysia teams were not allowed to conduct official training at the National Stadium.

However, Yeoh tweeted that the decision was made by a Fifa match commissioner due to Malaysia's current weather that sees rain in the evenings.

"Fifa match commissioner does not allow Malaysia or Oman to train at the National Stadium because it has been raining during the evenings recently.

"The stadium has been approved by the MC for the match.

"Harimau Malaya fans are encouraged to head to the National Stadium to give their full support," said Yeoh.

Silhavy said he had no idea of the current field condition at the National Stadium as their squad had to hold official training at the MBPJ Stadium in Kelana Jaya today.

Days earlier, viral photos of the pitch at the National Stadium in 'poor condition' with brown patches had appeared on social media following Ed Sheeran's concert there on Feb 24.
