KUALA LUMPUR: Manchester United up-and-coming star Ethan Wheatley is increasingly making a name for himself both on and off the field.
The Stockport-born player recently acknowledged that he was part Malaysian with a grandmother who hails from Selangor.
Not only that, the 18-year-old good-looking lad also acknowledged that he frequently vacationed in Malaysia.
"Yes, my grandmother was born and raised in Selangor. However, she moved to England at a young age. When I was little, our family often vacationed in Kuala Lumpur," said Ethan.
The youngster, who caught the attention of Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag after scoring four goals against Southampton in the U18s game last year, has now begun training with the main squad.
So far, Wheatley has not been given the opportunity to play with the Manchester United main squad, but it is likely to happen in the near future.
Based on the abilities of the player, the well-rounded striker is seen as versatile and capable of assisting the attacking department of the Harimau Malaya squad if he chooses to play for Malaysia.
