KUALA LUMPUR: Harimau Malaya edged Perak 1-0, courtesy of Daniel Ting's goal, in a warm-up match on Friday in the build-up to their World Cup qualifying matches against Kyrgyzstan and Taiwan.
Defender Daniel scored the national team's only goal of the 70-minute match in the 17th minute.
Though it was only a non-ranking match, it was Daniel's second career goal for Harimau Malaya, with his maiden strike coming in the 10-0 thrashing of Papua New Guinea in a friendly in June last year.
Malaysia will travel to Bishkek to face Kazakhstan at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium on June 6, followed by their final Group D fixture against Taiwan at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil five days later.
FA of Malaysia secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman said every player in the Harimau Malaya team was tested in the closed-door match against Perak.
Harimau Malaysia must win their remaining two Group D matches to stand a chance of advancing to the third round of the World Cup qualifiers for the first time.
