KUALA LUMPUR: A good pitch equals to good football for many goals.
And Malaysia coach Kim Pan Gon is hoping that the field at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, will be in good condition for the World Cup qualifier against Taiwan tomorrow.
Malaysia need to beat Taiwan by at least eight goals in their final group match, and hope that Kyrgyzstan lose to Oman in order to advance to the third round.
So, Pan Gon is keeping his fingers crossed that the grass would not stop his team from playing flowing football and enabling Malaysia to score as many goals as possible.
And Pan Gon is even going to the extent of keeping his team off the stadium's pitch this evening and train at the Wisma FAM field instead.
Evidently, this is to "help" preserve the grass at the National Stadium whose pitch is notorious for its poor condition during rainy season.
In March, Oman coach Jaroslav Silhavy criticised the pitch at Bukit Jalil when they played Malaysia in a World Cup qualiifer. Oman won 2-0.
