KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor must pay a RM100,000 fine and compensate Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) for their absence from the Charity Shield, and will also host JDT behind closed doors in the return Super League match at MBPJ Stadium in November.
Selangor will also be docked three points.
However, the Malaysian Football League (MFL) did not specify in its press release on Tuesday why Selangor must play behind closed doors against JDT.
"MFL and the home team (Selangor) will work closely to coordinate match operations. The entry requirements for the selected representatives of both clubs will be coordinated for attendance on match day," the statement said.
Selangor withdrew from the Super League-cum-Charity Shield match at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri on May 10, five days after their star winger, Faisal Halim, was attacked with acid in Damansara Jaya.
Following their no-show, MFL awarded JDT three points.
On Tuesday, the MFL Board of Directors unanimously decided on the RM100,000 fine, which will be donated to charity organisations.
In addition, Selangor will be required to compensate JDT and MFL for the financial losses resulting from their withdrawal.
MFL will gather detailed information and costs from JDT and the MFL secretariat, which will then be reviewed and discussed with Selangor for appropriate compensation.
Selangor cited "a series of criminal incidents and recent threats" when they withdrew from the match on May 8, after their request to postpone the Charity Shield game was denied.
These incidents included the horrific acid attack on player Faisal on May 5, resulting in third-degree burns.
Faisal is currently recovering after undergoing four surgeries.
On May 9, MFL awarded JDT a 'walkover' victory with a 3-0 scoreline following Selangor's withdrawal, thereby granting them three points in the Super League.
