KUALA LUMPUR: National footballer Faisal Halim could return to light training in three weeks, as he has been showing positive signs in his recovery process recently.
This was confirmed by Selangor Football Club (Selangor FC) chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon today.
Faisal, whose nickname is Mickey, suffered serious injuries in an acid attack on May 5 and has since undergone four surgeries.
He has been discharged from hospital.
According to Johan, Faisal's wounds had shown positive signs of recovery since "the press conference we had with him".
"He could be back on the pitch within two or three weeks, but he will be doing only light training without the ball.
"His fitness level is low at the moment, as he has not played football nor had any physical activity for the past two months."
Johan gave his assurance that Selangor would not rush his recovery process.
"We do not want to rush things and risk causing other injuries, especially at this early stage," said Johan.
"We know he is a strong person, but we cannot expose him to that risk."
Johan was speaking after accompanying Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah during a visit to Kompleks 3K in Subang Jaya near here today.
