KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) confirmed that they have received an appeal from Selangor.
Sanctions were imposed on Selangor following their withdrawal from their Charity Shield match against Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) on May 10.
"We have received Selangor's appeal and will review the submission in the coming days. It will then be forwarded to the Appeals Committee," said a MFL spokesperson today.
It is understood that it will take between two and four weeks before a decision is made.
Last week, Selangor had initially been penalised with a RM100,000 fine, a three point deduction and would have to play their 14th fixture against JDT behind closed doors in addition to covering the costs incurred by MFL and JDT.
But in deference to a decree by Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, MFL revised the sanctions.
The fine was reduced to RM60,000, the three-point deduction was waived and Selangor will now be permitted to have supporters attend the Selangor-JDT match.
This revision was made public before Selangor could formally lodge their appeal.
