KUALA LUMPUR: The M-League rumour mill says that a ''prominent'' CEO of a Super League club will be stepping down soon.
This has led to many speculating about Selangor CEO Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon.
However, Johan has dismissed the rumours, saying today, "Nothing of that sort has been communicated to me. I am still the club's CEO."
Meanwhile Johan expressed gratitude to the state government's Solidarity Fund initiative, which has collected close to RM80,000.
The fund was launched after Selangor FC were fined RM100,000 (later reduced to RM60,000) by the Malaysian Football League for their withdrawal from the Charity Shield on May 10.
Selangor withdrew from the match after its request to the Malaysian Football League was rejected. Selangor had cited safety concerns following the horrific acid attack on their star player Faisal Halim and the alleged threats to team officials.
"We are grateful for all the support. This just goes to show that football belongs to the people, and we are truly touched by their generosity and pure intent to help their beloved club," said Johan.
The Solidarity Fund, which began on June 26 and ended on Tuesday, recorded RM76,490.06.
