KUALA LUMPUR: Kim Pan Gon, who abruptly quit as the head coach of Harimau Malaya two weeks ago, has joined Ulsan Hyundai.
Ulsan, who compete in South Korea's League 1, have announced Pan Gon's appointment as their new manager.
Prior to the Ulsan announcement, Pan Gon was also linked to the China national team.
The 55-year-old Pan Gon said the offer from four-time K-League 1 champions Ulsan was the best that he received.
"Ulsan are a strong football team in South Korea. I played for them 28 years ago."
Pan Gon played as a winger for Ulsan from 1992 to 1996, making 58 appearances and scoring five goals.
Currently, Ulsan are fourth in the K-League 1 table after 25 games with 12 wins and six draws. They trail Gangwon (44 points), Pohang Steelers (44) and Gimcheon Sangmu (43).
Pan Gon helped Malaysia to qualify for the Asian Cup on merit for the first time in 43 years, and improved Malaysia's world ranking from No. 154 to 134.
