Endrick set to become first Malaysian to play in V-League

KUALA LUMPUR: Endrick dos Santos has made history by becoming the first Malaysian footballer to join a team from the Vietnam League.

The Brazilian-Malaysian midfielder recently joined V-League side Ho Chi Minh City FC on loan from Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT).

"Ho Chi Minh City FC are pleased to announce the acquisition of Endrick Dos Santos on loan from JDT.

"The midfielder will be a key addition to our squad for the 2024-2025 V-League season, wearing the Red Battleship jersey," the club said in an official release.

Valued at £250,000 (RM1.2 million), the 29-year-old Dos Santos previously made his mark with stints at Selangor and Penang after arriving in Malaysia in 2018.

Since joining JDT in 2022, he has appeared 37 times for the Southern Tigers, scoring five goals.

On the international stage, Dos Santos has earned 13 caps with Harimau Malaya and was a member of Malaysia's Asian Cup squad in January.
