KUALA LUMPUR: After winning the Merdeka Tournament early this month, Malaysia's football world ranking went up two spots to world No.132.
Malaysia beat world No. 114 Lebanon 1-0 and the Philippines 2-1 in the Merdeka Tournament.
Currently, Malaysia are ranked 24th in Asia and fifth in the Asean region, trailing behind Australia (No.25), Thailand (No.100), Vietnam (No. 116) and Indonesia (No.129).
Harimau Malaya have the chance to further improve their ranking in an international match against New Zealand in Auckland on Oct 14.
