JDT's Arif on Rangers' radar?

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) winger Arif Aiman Hanapi has reportedly attracted attention from Rangers FC, the 55-time Scottish League champions, following his impressive performances in the AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE).

However, it remains to be seen if the interest will translate into a concrete offer.

The 22-year-old has become one of Asia's hottest prospects, thanks to his standout displays in the tournament.

Arif is joint second in the ACLE scoring charts with four goals, alongside Gwangju's Jasir Asani, Al Hilal's Aleksandar Mitrovic and Yokohama F. Marinos' Anderson Lopes.

While his goal-scoring has impressed many, it is Arif's speed, agility, skill and confidence on the ball that have reportedly drawn the attention of Rangers.

"Arif performs consistently well, not only in Malaysia but also at the elite Asian club level," The Rangers Journal on X, tagging Rangers board member and head of scouting Nils Koppen.

"He has netted four goals and provided an assist in just four matches. His ability to create chances and his 74 per cent dribbling success rate this season make him a constant threat to defenders."

"Arif is clearly ready for the next step in his career, and we are closely monitoring his progress. A contract offer could be on the table as early as January."

Whether Rangers will follow through with a bid remains uncertain, but Arif's continued strong performances may keep him firmly on the radar of international clubs.
