KUALA LUMPUR: After their disappointing exits from the Asian Champions League 2 (ACL2) and Malaysia Cup, Selangor are now focused on excelling in the Super League and Challenge Cup.
The Red Giants will resume their Super League campaign against Negri Sembilan in Paroi tomorrow, with aspirations of securing a spot in next season's Asian competition by finishing in the top two.
Selangor and Sabah are level on 29 points, with the former in third on goal difference.
However, Selangor have played one match fewer.
The Red Giants bowed out at the last-16 stage of the Malaysia Cup and the group stage of the ACL2.
While winning the Super League to end their nine-year title drought seems out of reach, with leaders Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) 11 points ahead, Katsuhito Kinoshi's side are determined to make an impact in the Challenge Cup.
Kinoshi has urged his players to remain focused and motivated as they approach the final stretch of the season.
"We must redirect our energy towards the next challenge in the league and the cup," said Kinoshi.
"I've reminded the players to remain highly motivated, no matter the setbacks we've faced so far.
"The road ahead will be tough, but we're determined to give everything for our supporters."
